Josh SmithWhen and why did you start training for fighting? I fought before I ever trained. I went to go watch my friend (Robert Emerson) fight and was sitting in the stands hanging out. When they announced over the loud speaker that they needed someone to fight, I volunteered and fought Nam Phan. I think we were both maybe 17 or so, but I had no idea what I was doing, other then a lot of street fights and mental toughness. So right off the bat I landed a head kick that dropped him, and when I went in to finish him I got caught in an armbar. I had never even seen a move like that before, but long story short I was approached by Chris Brennan after to come train at his gym and I did. After that I have trained on and off ever since. What ranks and titles have you held? None Do you have any heroes? Jesus Christ and Jeremy Williams What is your favorite technique? I’ll never tell... What does it mean for you to fight in the WEC? It’s an honor. Great people, great show and they really take care of the fighters. I am really looking forward to making my WEC debut.
