Phillipe Nover
Training: 9am kickboxing, 11:30am conditioning, 4pm Sparring.
When and why did you start training for fighting? When I was younger my mother and father enrolled me in martial arts to learn self defense, especially since I got into fights in grade school. As I got better in training my instructor Ralph Mitchell enrolled me in competitions like point sparring matches, karate and kung-fu tournaments, and even arnis tournaments. I took it up a notch when I started fighting amateur Muay Thai kickboxing. I loved the ring. I loved the crowd. After I fought my first MMA match I was truly in love. I made it my passion. I loved fighting and winning. From that point on, I set goals in my life which I strive everyday to achieve. The greatest was to fight in the UFC. And here I am!
What titles have you held? Ring of Combat tournament of champions finalist. I had to bow out of the finals because I suffered an injury during training. Black belt in BJJ
Do you have any heroes? I have two heroes in my life. My mother and father. They both put my brother and I first in their lives before anyone and anything, even themselves. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? The UFC was just a dream a few months ago. It is like the NBA of MMA. I put the UFC as one of the top goals in my life. I dedicated all my heart, body, and spirit to it everyday. I guess your dreams can come true when you work hard for them. Kung may sipag at tiyaga, may nilaga." - tagalog meaning- With hard work and patience comes great rewards.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I am a registered nurse and have an associates degree. I am currently enrolled in Downstate University for my bachelors.
