When and why did you start training for fighting? I had no family and one day I was taken to a social project and started training in martial arts. Years later I made my debut in MMA. What ranks and titles have you held? Brazilian champion in submission wrestling, two-times semi-finalist ADCC absolute division, WVC MMA 8 Champion absolute division, WVC MMA 9 Champion Light heavyweight. Do you have any heroes? My hero is God. What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? UFC is the Oscar of the MMA, every fighter wants to be there and one day be the champion and I always dreamed of this opportunity. Now this is real. Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Unfortunately I could not go to college; my college was my survival as a human. What was your job before you started fighting? My work has always been fighting. I do not know anything other than fighting. Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Brazilian "Luta livre" (Brazilian wrestling) champion. If any, list ranks in any martial arts styles? Black belt in "Luta livre" and black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. Favorite grappling technique: Kneebar and Kimura. Favorite Striking technique: Takedown.
