John CholishTRAINING: I work as a commodities broker from 7am until 4pm then head to two gyms at night to train
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training for mixed martial arts upon the completion of my college wrestling career, when I moved to Manhattan for work. The Renzo Gracie Academy was conveniently located near my office and allowed me to utilize my base of wrestling to continue to train jiu-jitsu for fun. Once I started training I fell in love with the various options and forms of martial arts that were available to me, ranging from jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, judo, shoot box, and thus I began to train in the different disciplines as well as blend them together. What ranks and titles have you held? Ring of Combat Lightweight Champ, Cage Fury Lightweight Champ, UCC Lightweight Champ Do you have any heroes? Instead of heroes, I would say that my parents have been my role models. Since a young age they have instilled into me the idea of working hard for what you want, and to not be afraid to set your goals high. Their continued support in my life as well as the countless sacrifices they have made have been instrumental in the successes and goals that I have been able to achieve. What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It is a great opportunity for me to challenge my abilities against the best talent in the lightweight division. Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Cornell University (Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management) What was your job before you started fighting? My job currently is a Commodities Broker. I work with an OTC Energy Brokerage Firm and primarily focus on brokering Natural Gas and Crude Oil options, futures, and swaps. Ranks in any martial arts styles: Renzo Gracie BJJ Purple Belt
