TRAINING: Multiple sessions a day with Team Hayastan / AKA Gym
When and why did you start training for fighting? I’ve been doing martial arts since the age of 6 years old. I fought world class level judo and had my first MMA fight at age 15.
What ranks and titles have you held? Nine-time judo national champ, two-time Pan American medalist and 2003 World judo team member.
Do you have any heroes? My Father
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means the world to me because my life has been devoted to martial arts and I believe it’s destiny for me to make a career in the UFC as one of the best.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went until junior year – I couldn’t continue because of fighting
What was your job before you started fighting? I was a mortgage officer and real estate agent
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Two-time silver medalist at California wrestling championships

Favorite grappling technique: Anaconda choke
