Shogun Gives Back Before Fight with Gustafsson

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua is giving back to the people of his native Curitiba in the lead-up to his December 8th bout with Alexander Gustafsson, donating the gloves he wore in his August win over Brandon Vera to an auction to aid hospitals in his hometown.

"The growth of the sport helped us to get closer to the audience of all ages," said Rua. "If we all help a little, a lot can be improved."

The auction, which began on November 20, runs through December 20. All proceeds from the auction will go to the hospitals of Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Curitiba: Hospital Santa Casa de Curitiba, Hospital Psiquiátrico Nossa Senhora da Luz e Hospital e Maternidade Alto Maracanã.
